Lidar terrain mapping has become the preferred technique for collection of topographic data,
providing high accuracy, low cost, and rapid delivery. Unfortunately, existing GIS software
cannot effectively manage the tens of millions of elevation points these datasets typically
contain. Users are limited to sacrificing accuracy by using decimated or derived data (contours,
DEMs, etc.), fighting with cumbersome tiling schemes and numerous files, or buying and learning
other non-GIS software for specific tasks. The Lidar Explorer family of products ends these struggles. |
